Arthur Ashe Kids Day At The US Open
Arthur Ashe Kids Day kicked off US Open with interactive events for children, music, celebrities and athletes in attendance. One of the main sponsors of Arthur Ashe kids day, along with Mercedes Benz, is the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to “utilize the power of sport to address social challenges through a global program of sports-related community development initiatives.”
Larry Fitzgerald on His 2nd Annual Celebrity Servers Night
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald held his second annual Celebrity Servers Night with Larry Fitzgerald & Friends fundraiser at Morton’s Steakhouse in Phoenix, Arizona on August 30, 2010. Larry and other athletes and celebrities including former Arizona Diamondback Luis Gonzalez, Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, defensive end Calais Campbell, outside linebacker Joey Porter, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, guard Reggie Wells and running back Beanie Wells took the place of Morton’s staff all in the name of charity.
Proceeds from the evening benefited two charities:
The Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund was established in honor of Larry’s mother, who throughout her career as a state worker in Minnesota helped people with AIDS. The Fund continues that work and also supports breast cancer survivors and the education of urban youth.
The Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund supports healthy children and their families. The First Down Fund has provided funds for computer equipment, vision care, and other activities to support youth.
United Way And Saints, Darren Sharper and Roman Harper After Game Party
Join the United Way of the greater New Orleans area along with 2 of our favorite athletes, Darren Sharper and Roman Harper for an exclusive after game party this week. After the Saints rumble in the SuperDome against the San Diego Chargers join both the Super Bowl Champions and party for a worthy cause. The United Way is working to help ensure those that have been effected Gulf Coast oil spill have access to resources and information.
