I can not express how overwhelming it is for me when I read stories such as this……….. the guys listed below are amazing for the contributions raised to assist the Haiti relief efforts.  I never have neglected giving recognition to the sincere efforts of anyone giving a helping hand in the time of such desperate need. We should all challenge ourselves to not forget the tragedy in Haiti (by continuing to assist) and not to forget these great guys (listed below) that continue to GRIND by using their BIG HEARTS to GIVE in BIG ways!! 

The Haitian earthquake relief fund founded by Alonzo Mourning and Dwyane Wade has received initial pledges of well over $800,000 from at least 27 professional athletes, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Michael Vick and Gilbert Arenas.   

Mourning and Wade are calling their venture the “Athletes Relief Fund for Haiti“ and began soliciting donations Friday.

Among the other NBA players announced as donors: Al Horford, Anthony Parker, Kenyon Martin, J.R. Smith, Carmelo Anthony, Ben Gordon, Mike Dunleavy, Michael Beasley, Udonis Haslem, Quentin Richardson, Devin Harris, Michael Finley, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, Ronnie Brewer, Caron Butler  

NFL players Michael Vick, Terrell Owens, Josh Cribbs, Wes Welker, Randy Moss and Clinton Portis also gave money, fund officials said. Welker, Cribbs and suspended NFL player Donte Stallworth all had Twitter play a role in their donation amounts, with Stallworth saying on his feed that he would give $1 for each person who was following him, or about $34,000.  

“Follow & let’s help the people of Haiti together today!” Stallworth wrote.  

Wade’s donation was a one-game salary, about $175,000. Mourning, James, Durant and Paul each pledged $100,000. Mourning spent about 36 hours in Haiti last week, working at a makeshift hospital and trying to assist rescue workers and first responders in the devastated capital Port-au-Prince get badly needed supplies such as water, food and medical equipment.
