CONGRATS, Brandon Knight named National Gatorade Player of the Year
This young man is definitely on his GRIND!! He may have already played his last game in a Pine Crest high School uniform, but Brandon Knight continues making county and state history. All Star Grind has been falling Brandon for some time and we are happy to see Brandon accomplishing All Star achievements. I can’t wait to see what school Brandon chooses to further his education and make a big impact on the basketball team.
Knight, who won the same award a year ago, joins Lebron James and Greg Oden as the only athletes earn the honor in back-to-back seasons. He is also the first Florida athlete to repeat as Gatorade National Player of the Year in any sport. This season, Knight led Pine Crest (25-5) to a fourth consecutive berth in the state tournament after averaging 31.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He is a member of the 2010 USA Basketball Junior Select National Team and he finished his high school career as Broward County’s leading scorer with 3,515 career points.
Knight has yet to announce his college plans, but he is considering offers from Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse. Knight is now once again a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year award, to be presented at a special afternoon ceremony prior to The ESPY Awards in July.
