Washington Nationals baseman, Ryan Zimmerman – Raises Money For Multiple Sclerosis
Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman took over the stands of Nationals Park on Monday night for a fun fundraiser for his charity ziMS Foundation (with MS standing for multiple sclerosis, which Zimmerman’s mother has). The event was part auction, part concert and part magic show.
While Zimmerman was a guest of honor, the real buzz was around illusionist David Blaine, who was signing autographs for fans on playing cards and handing them out to the crowd. MSNBC’s Chuck Todd played emcee and encouraged attendees to keep drinking and bidding on auction items.
Todd said the decision to help out was easy.
“I think it’s very hard for athletes to plug into Washington,” he told Yeas & Nays. “I think athletes get a little fearful of the political climate and the environment and this is the perfect way to do that.”
The event raised $200,000
